So, as many of you may know I worked on the film “9” that is now currently playing in theaters nationwide. I worked mainly as a story artist on the film (as seen on the credits) and also as a concept artist, though I didn’t officially get credit for that. But, credits aside, what I got from that experience was not only my first paid job in the animation industry, but also the privilege and luck to work closely as an apprentice under Shane Acker.
Meet Alain and Charles. In the same vein (no pun intended) as the Shooting Stars themselves, I decided to exaggerate; so if the girls are “hyper-feminine,” these chaps are hyper-masculine. I’ll let you figure out who they are loosely based on by their names, but I think most of you will get the joke. If not, their “Chippendale” get up is enough of a joke, in and of itself. But, these are mere henchmen, so they do have a boss, and he or she will be coming soon too (shhh, it’s a surprise 🙂 )
It’s about time isn’t it? Well, let’s get right to it then, and I’ll leave the talking for another post. As usual, click the image below for the chapter page.
Enjoy!

I just noticed it now, but yeah, it’s been a year since I started this. I could say a million things about it, but I’ll just have this sketch of a future “Hockey, Love, & GUTS!” character do the talking.
Thanks for all the visits, to friends, acquaintances, or just passers-by. You’ve made all the difference this past year for me, so thanks so much!

“Shooting Stars” is the name of an idea I’ve been developing for years now. Long before any of my short films or comics actually – I was much more immature then, but maybe that’s a good thing. Now before anyone says anything, I’ll just say that this idea came before “Gurren Lagann” and “Oneechanbara” – if these names mean nothing to you, then great, if not, well take my word for it.
Let me break it down to you: “Shooting Stars” is really supposed to be a parody of all the super sentai shows I watched as a kid (Changeman, Flashman, Jaspion, Jiraya), Silverhawks and Thundercats, and of 1980’s Brazilian television kids programming, which is hard for anyone from outside the country to really know what I’m talking about, but just Google the word “Xuxa” or “Paquitas” and you’ll probably get it right away.
She’s “Star 2” but somehow the leader of the group…
